What if i already have an attorney?
Under Pennsylvania law, a client generally has the right to choose his or her attorney, and to change attorneys, at any time. That said, we are not trying to encourage anyone to terminate an existing relationship with any other attorney, if you are satisfied with that attorney, and the way you are being represented. If you think you might be interested in hiring us to represent you, but already have retained another attorney or law firm to pursue claims against Chesapeake or other gas companies, we would be happy to review your lease and other documents, and your existing retainer agreement, without any cost or obligation on your part. If you decide to hire us to represent you, we will, if necessary, speak with your existing attorney, to ensure that you would not have any further obligations to your existing attorney going forward, and/or to ensure that any such obligations are addressed as part of your retention of our law firms. We are also open to the possibility of working with other attorneys and law firms. By offering an alternative approach to pursuing claims against Chesapeake, other gas companies, and Access Midstream, we do not intend to criticize any other attorneys or law firms, or the different approaches that they have taken to date. Instead, we are offering an alternative approach which we believe may be preferable to some landowners.
